En esta ocasión, los primeros tres días fueron como jugar a convertir un espacio feo, en uno bello.

La asociación organizadora de este curso http://www.trial-error.org/, llevaba ya un tiempo tratando de sacar adelante un huerto abierto en esa esquina, pero parece ser que existen posiciones enfrentadas en ese vecindario entre personas que llevan viviendo allí muchos años y las personas que llegan nuevas. Esta falta de entendimiento propiciaba actos vandálicos hacia ese huerto. Habrá que ver si después de esta última acción, se consigue una colaboración suficiente por parte del vecindario, para tratar de evitar nuevos actos vandálicos. De momento, ha pasado un mes y medio después de aquello, y las calabazas siguen creciendo.

The organizing association of this course http://www.trial-error.org/, had been trying for some time to start an open orchard in that corner, but it seems that there are conflicting positions in that neighborhood between people, who have lived there for many years, and people who come new. This lack of understanding led to vandalism in the garden. We will see if after this action, a sufficient collaboration is obtained by the neighborhood, to try to avoid new vandalic acts. So far, it’s been a month and a half after that, and the pumpkins keep growing.

Veo como estos proyectos de huertas en la ciudad, están pensados para ser un punto de apoyo fundamental en la integración de personas que llegan nuevas a un vecindario, o también para personas que no tienen recursos suficientes para llevar una vida digna. Las asociaciones responsables de estos proyectos son como una madre que te abraza, te da de comer y te busca trabajo. Alucinaba escuchando como habían pasado por el proyecto de Garten Rosenduft, más de 600 mujeres, y que muchas de ellas llevaban hasta 10 ó 15 años sin permisos de trabajo o residencia. En realidad estas organizaciones son comunidades abiertas a todas las personas que necesiten ayuda, para salir adelante ante cualquier tipo de dificultades.

I see how these urban garden projects, are designed either to be a fundamental point of support in the integration of newcomers to a neighborhood, or for people who do not have enough resources to lead a decent life. The associations responsible for these projects are like a mother who huges you, feed you up and looks for a job. I was amazed to hear that more than 600 women had gone through Garten Rosenduft’s project, and many of them, were up to 10 or 15 years, without work or residence permits. In fact, these organizations are communities open to all people who need help to get ahead of any kind of difficulties.

Los barrios son como las personas, también atraviesan por dificultades y sufren enfermedades. Es como si el barrio fuera el cuerpo de la comunidad; está el cuerpo humano y después está el cuerpo comunitario. La salud del barrio depende del entendimiento por parte de las personas que lo habitan. Cuando hay entendimiento, hay tiempo para atender las necesidades de las personas y los espacios. Por el contrario, si hay desentendimiento, aparecen espacios vacíos y desatendidos.

The neighborhoods are like people, they also go through difficulties and suffer diseases. It is like if the neighborhood were the body of the community; There is the human body and then there is the community body. The health of the neighborhood depends on the understanding of the people who inhabit it. When there is understanding, there is time to attend to the needs of people and spaces. On the contrary, if there is misunderstanding, empty and unattended spaces appear.

Desde el cuarto día de curso hasta el noveno, lo pasamos en un centro de educación medioambiental situado a dos horas en transporte público desde Berlín. Pues bien, algunos de los talleres que más me gustaron fueron sobre resolución de conflictos, permacultura y la horticultura como terapia.
